Based on the research idea of social changes, this study takes the rural affected area of Wenchuan Earthquake and Yunnan Yao¡¯an Earthquake as the sample area, adopts the retrospective questionnaire and the real-name following surveys repeatedly, and investigates the recovery levels of the rural residents¡¯ production and life at different times after earthquake. On the basis of the above, the study constructs the affected area ¡°Time-Recovery Ratio¡± recovery curve model, and gets the quantified expressions of the post-earthquake long-term recovery and reconstruction process. Furthermore, the study explains the external factors¡¯ positive/reverse effect on recovery process through the comparison of different affected area¡¯s recovery curves and identification of main influence factors in recovery process, and thus provides the scientific basis for rural post-disaster recovery and reconstruction management and the optimal model for post-disaster recovery and reconstruction practice with the characteristic of time stages.

Activities Performed:

Recovery curve model construction. To design the evaluation scale of the people¡¯s recovery degree in all aspects in disaster areas, and to construct recovery curve model of ¡°time-recovery rate¡± in disaster area; by conducting questionnaire survey of different sample areas, to draw the recovery curve of both the disaster areas in small and medium earthquake and disaster areas in great earthquake.

The study on time process feature of disaster area recovery. According to the recovery curve of both the disaster areas in small and medium earthquake and disaster areas in great earthquake, make an analysis of the temporal characteristics of the recovery curve mode, and according to the recovery time and recovery rate and other indications, make stage division for recovery and reconstruction process in different disaster areas and compare the differences of the recovery stages among different disaster areas.

The analysis of the influencing factors of the recovery and reconstruction process in disaster areas. To screen and classify the recovery internal factors such as family manpower capital, social capital, regional resources, etc. and the external factors such as external aid time, force, modality, etc. by survey. Combining the aforesaid stage division of recovery and reconstruction time, identify the main factors to the recovery in different stages.

 The study on effect mechanism of the recovery and reconstruction process in disaster areas. To explain the effect mechanisms of all factors to the process of the recovery and reconstruction after earthquake, and mainly study the positive or negative effect of the external aid to the recovery of the disaster areas in different recovery stages, and then explore the optimal management model with time stage characteristics and targeted points of the post-earthquake recovery and reconstruction.
